Apprenticeship Breakdown
An apprenticeship is made up of three component parts:
1. A National Vocational Qualification
2. A Technical Certificate
3. A Functional Skills Qualification - (Maths, English, in some cases IT)
FAQ's
Q: How long will an apprenticeship take me?
A: That depends on how much time you can spare working on it. Normally the programme will last for between 6 months and 1 year.
Q: How much time will I have to spend on it?
A: This depends how quickly you want to complete it. We will normally spend one hour working with you every week or fortnightly
depending on how much time you can spare.
IT
This Apprenticeship provides the apprentice with competence, skills and knowledge to work effectively with IT systems,
communication and productivity tools and software applications.
Studying an Intermediate Level Apprenticeship could enable you to work as a Data Administrator, entering and editing data using software such as Customer Relationship Management;
Accounts; Payroll and Stock control systems. You would also be producing routine reports from the data held.
Whereas on the Advanced Level Apprenticeship you could work as a Website manager, planning and contributing to designing websites;
creating multimedia content for websites; and working with IT professionals to build new sites.
This apprenticeship teaches you the skills required to provide excellent customer service and
is applicable to hundreds of job roles across many different sectors.
Completing this apprenticeship will provide you with evidence of skills that will serve you well in virtually any industry.

This apprenticeship can be applied to almost all sectors and most job roles.
The different levels of the management apprenticeship mean that whether you are looking to apply for a job role as a team leader,
or you are the head of a large company looking to implement organisational change there will be an apprenticeship which is right for you.
The Intermediate Level Management Apprenticeship involves supporting organisational objectives through a wide range of functions,
including: monitoring work, giving feedback, briefing teams, supporting team members, resolving problems,
procuring supplies, project management and delivering and improving customer service.
The Advanced Level Management Apprenticeship will develop your skills to include planning, allocating and monitoring the work of a team,
supporting team members, managing conflict, resolving problems, project management, agreeing budgets and managing customer service.
Administrators are critical in handling the day to day tasks in a business in order to ensure that it runs smoothly and
they provide a crucial role in many organisations. This apprenticeship is easily transferrable.
As a business and administration apprentice your exact duties will depend upon your employment and
you will be advised as to which units would best suit your needs.
Administration apprenticeships are a great way of beginning a move into management once you have more experience.
This qualification is designed to provide candidates with a general,
valuable qualification in Health and Safety for the workplace.
The course was developed in consultation with employers, colleges,
private training providers and Health and Safety Consultants to give
learners the widest appeal to current and potential employers.

Food Safety in Catering
Under EU legislation, it is a requirement that those who work with food commercially receive training in food safety.
This course will provide candidates with knowledge of the parameters of basic food practice as relevant to the catering industry.
This will enable learners to identify how to make changes to catering practice in order to improve the safety of the catering service as a whole.

Introductory Certificate in Customer Service
This is designed for people who work, or would like to work in a customer service role.
You will cover things like developing customer relationships, handling and resolving customer service problems and
developing communication skills. Customer service is applicable in nearly all businesses and organisations and

Word Processing Software Level 1 & 2
This course is designed as an entry level course for people with little to no experience of word processing.
By the end of the course learners will be able to produce a range of professional looking word documents to the standard
expected by most employers at this time. Attendees will learn how to create, change, format and save several different types
of common word document such as letters and information sheets as well as how to use and adjust existing work templates.

Spreadsheet Software level 1 & 2
This course is designed as an entry level course for people with little to no experience of spreadsheet
software. By the end of the course learners will be able to use Microsoft Excel to produce useful and easy to understand
spreadsheets of a standard that would be acceptable in most workplaces. Attendees will learn how to input and format different
kinds of information, perform calculations using formulas and create and format graphs to summarise information.

PTLLS
PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
This qualification covers the basics of teaching in continuing and adult education.
This includes how to plan sessions, motivate learners and use a wide variety of assessment methods,
the principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation. This qualification is for new entrants into
the lifelong learning sector so you don't need any experience or qualifications. If you are looking to teach in a
college or in any further education establishment PTLLS is a requirement

CTLLS
CTLLS (Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
In order to be able to take CTLLS you will need to be able to complete 30hours of teaching practice in a recognised
lifelong learning location. Acquiring CTLLS will qualify you for Associate Teacher, Learning and Skills (ATLS) status,
and is your license to teach. The qualification will cover things like your role and responsibilities as a teacher,
the theory and practice of teaching, the principles of learning, teaching assessment and evaluation and confidence,
communication and interpersonal skills.

Information, Advice & Guidance Level 2 & 3
If your job involves helping and advising others, these qualifications can help you improve your skills and develop at work.
During your qualification you may cover areas such as negotiation, supporting clients, developing interaction and operating

Business Improvement Techniques
Business Improvement Techniques (BIT) is a work-based competency qualification (NVQ).
The main aim of a BIT NVQ is to help improve business performance. The qualification will cover areas such as reducing
business waste and costs, improving productivity and ultimately increasing competitiveness.
The level two qualification is aimed at those people who work within business who wish to have their competencies assessed
for certification purposes. Evidence should ideally be obtained from the working environment where work activities or work
outcomes assessed are the learners own work/contribution.

Management Level 5
This qualification has been specifically designed for middle managers with a wide span of control and
accountability for performance, in particular those who have responsibility for determining resource allocation and
operational methods in their department or organisation.
Learners take four mandatory units, covering developing and implementing operational plans, working productively,
providing leadership and direction, and planning change. They then choose from a diverse range of optional units to
